Welcome to our Certificate of Advanced Studies in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for humanitarian and developing contexts.

The course is designed to empower practitioners with an understanding of the fundamentals of the WASH sector, both in the humanitarian and development contexts. It introduces students to the core principles for planning, designing and implementing activities to improve sustainable and equitable access to domestic water supply and sanitation services and to improve hygiene behaviours.

This study program is jointly organized by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag) and the University of Neuchâtel, (Uni-NE).

Programme and Dates – Revised edition 2021

The CAS is organized as a blended course consisting in 3 theoretical modules (spring-autumn 2021) delivered in distance learning and one practical module (autumn 2021) which will be held in Switzerland, Neuchâtel.

The opening is scheduled for Monday, 10 May 2021 (kick-off meeting). The distance lectures will be held every Thursday starting at 1 pm (UTC + 1h).

Because of COVID-19, five other students had to postpone Module 1. They will end the training in the course of the current edition.
